I’ve been quietly working on a couple of projects over the last month or so, which should be polished off shortly. Last week I also got the new Neon Pants website online, which I hope looks nice.

A couple of months ago, just after my last post incidentally, we adopted a couple of kittens. They’re moderately insane but fun little chaps. I suppose that warrants a photo…

I haven’t bothered to review a game in a long time, so I thought I might as well post up a link to my most recent review of Resident Evil 5. Not particularly interesting to those who don’t care about games of the zombie shooting genre, but hey, it’s something I wrote.

My wife also brought home some copies of a local economic newspaper, with some of my articles in it. A slight feeling of “ooh, my name’s in print” passed through me. I suppose I’ll scan in the articles for posterity some day. That said, they’re mostly dull interviews with bank managers, not the type of thing I’d want to bore anyone with. Still, it’s nice to be published offline.

On a completely off topic note, whilst I’ve been trying to get new clients for my design business, I’ve come upon the idea of moving into the area of porn web design after a friend suggested it as a thriving area. The pervert in me thinks he might be on to something.

Kung hei fat choy! That’s Cantonese that is, and means happy new year, or something like that. Not to be confused with kung hei chow yun fat, which doesn’t have anything to do with Chinese New Year.

Last week was Chinese New Year, this year being the Year of the Ox. It doesn’t really mean a great deal to me, but everyone got a little holiday (slightly annoying when you’re running a start-up business) and the missus says it’s her family’s equivalent of Christmas. Except instead of Christmas trees and nicely wrapped presents, it’s all about orange trees and red envelopes filled with crisp banknotes… and they said the Chinese weren’t capitalists!

What did I do over the holiday? Not a great deal, other than visiting the in-laws, eating a lot, and visiting the New Year flower market – a mass of stalls heaving with people, selling mainly cow-related nik naks and inflatable toys. Not to mention the lai see, where married people give children and bastard singletons money. Doesn’t seem like a good deal to me.

So I had a little trouble really getting into the spirit of things – but does it have to be so soon after Christmas? This being the Year of the Ox, has something to do with being serious and hardworking. Possibly drinking lots of milk. Sounds great.
